Registering Domain name at Name.com

July 6th, 2009 dhaval1983 2 comments

Guys,

I have been using different registrars to register my domain names. So far I have used resellerclub.com, godaddy.com, enom.com but my exprience with name.com is being pretty good and worth with the deal. The customer services have been excellent so far and I never waited to get the response from them to my queries.

Most importantly, the domain name managment area is very easy to use. You can change or modify the details in just a single click…these includes whois protection services, domain nameservers, edit customer details etc….

What I like the most about name.com is that they are dealing with unverfied paypal to accept payments for the registration of your domain names. I mean if anyone has paypal unverified account, he/she can easily purchase domains from name.com.

Second thing is  the interface of their site. Once you hit the search button entering your domain name…they will provide you all the possible available extensions for registrations. This looks awsome to me. No need to do WHOIS search again for another domain. The are listed below if you like it.

So if you are planning to  register a domain name name.com should be your choice.

Good luck:)

‘Dos’ And ‘Don’ts’ Of Registering Domain names

April 29th, 2009 dhaval1983 5 comments

Friends,

Everyday thousands of domain names registered.  So in this market it is very important for us to know what to do and what not to do when buying a domain name.

Do’s

Get .com or .net domain: .com domains are widely used for registration as they are the Top Level Domain names.

Find a branded domain: I must admit that it is easier said than done. Finding a branded domain is a kind of investment, you can earn a good revenue in future with the brandable domain name by selling them.

Research – This is a matter that is very very important. You should always research the past history of the domain before you buy it. For example, you should search for the keyword for which you are going to register the domain name. Also check the past history of a domain name if it is recently dropped from expire list.

Good Registrar: Registrar’s are also very important part when you registering your domain name. It is just like the heart of a human body. Price is important but for the sake of a few dollars, you should always choose the leading registrar in the market.

Don’ts:

Buying copyright domains:   This is a problem I’ve seen many newbie domainers and webmasters face. They see that a popular brand has left a domain that is in someway related. Well, if you haven’t already done this… don’t! It makes the domain worthless and, should you choose to develop it into a site, you could get in serious legal trouble. It may cause you a big problem.

February 26th, 2009 dhaval1983 5 comments

Friends,

You have heard about making money online. Also you might have heard about the affiliate programs and paid to post programs on the internet to earn money.  Now, there is another surprising concept: making money with your own domain names. But, is it really true?

Yes, I have to say you can earn money and it is possible to earn a living with a domain name. However, the best way is to find expired domain names.

1. Buying domain names at cheaper prices, then selling them higher prices:

Yes, you can follow this advice.  If you believe it or not but there are number of people making money by following these simple rule. Make a purchase & then sell it at a higher prices to get the maximum out of it. Everyday thousands of domain names are being registered and expires.

Several years ago it was not a big deal to register a good domain name but today it has become very hard to register a good desired domain name. There are some sources on the internet where you can find these expired domain names for re-registration or on the auction. The place where the professional domain reseller and manger, brokers works to purchase and sell domain names. You can get some tips form them at the auctions.

2. Selling advertisements on your parked domain names:

In this method, you register your domain name & park it to any reputed company. The companies are like sedo.com, parked.com etc. You select a particular marketplace to promote your domain name. Most of them will allow you to prefer a keyword related to the topic of your domain name. After the parked process is completed. You can see a related advertisement shown on your domain name as a sponsored links. These ads are based upon pay per click program. When someone clicks on the advertisement, you will get paid for it. Though it requires a huge amount of visitors/traffics.

February 7th, 2009 dhaval1983 No comments

Domain name transfer process is take around 5-6 business days. In order to transfer the domain name you must have the email authorization code which is also called EPP KEY. You can obtain this EPP KEY from your current domain name registrar upon request.

Now, you need to provide that EPP KEY to the registrar where you wish to transfer your request. Upon submit the EPP KEY, the new registrar will initiate the transfer request from their end and you will receive transfer approval email which you neeed to approve. Monitor site-hacking with Google Alerts

February 6th, 2009 dhaval1983 1 comment

Google Alerts is great in keeping track of keywords. But it can also be used to monitor your websites if anyone has hacked them (hopefully it won’t be the case), if it does happen Google would send you a notification. Google team blogged about it on their blog saying:

… Try a site: search on your site to see if anything unfamiliar shows up in Google’s results for your site. You can add words to the query that are unlikely to appear in your content, such as commercial terms or adult language. If the query [site:example.com viagra] isn’t supposed to return any pages on your site and it does, that could be a problem. You can even automate these searches with Google Alerts.

Moving Gmail chat to the rigth column

February 6th, 2009 dhaval1983 No comments

gmail_chat.pngAs you know, by default gmail chat box is on the left side, just below the main menu. I always felt like dragging it and putting on the other side. Because when you expand it, it pushes all your labels down making it difficult to access them. And if you keep gmail chat minimized then you won’t know who is online… so, it had this small usability issue.

But thanks to Right-side chat feature in Settings > Labs, now I can put it on the right column (see screenshot).

Recommended Solution

While Right-side chat solves the problem for one box, ideal solution would be draggable boxes. This way, users could arrange the boxes according to their preference.

Otherwise with the current solution we will have to wait for right-side calendar, right-side google docs..etc until they are developed.

Gmail’s new buttons

By the way, how do you like the new buttons in gmails?

gmail_buttons.png

For me, at first it was a bit confusing, since drop down menus are barely differentiable from buttons. But after using it a while it was ok.
